Energy Drinks, Edgy Or Just Plain Odd

These days, it seems as if the energy drink market has run out of ideas. The business has always tried to be cool, and marketing and selling almost entirely to young people means that it is important to be edgy.

From the start energy drinks like Red Bull or Jolt Cola eschewed traditional commercialism for a more personal approach. Jolt tried to make the drink appear important by giving it to the protagonists of Hackers and Deep Impact while on the other hand Red Bull recruited a large number of “cool” young people who worked as consumer educators for the energy drink. These young people would take the energy drink to parties and clubs to make it seem as if the beverage itself was relevant.

However, staying cool is a difficult thing. Energy drinks these days try to utilize celebrities and athletes by encouraging them to consume the beverage in public, although this can backfire. Lindsay Lohan, to name a particular person, is routinely seen and associated with Red Bull and Amp, but she has recently fallen from public grace, and is now seen as a has-been in rehab. Hardly the kind of representation that sells beverages.

But new and upcoming energy drinks have it even harder. The market is full and in order to appear new and cool energy drink distributors are resorting to the rather interesting strategy of crafting weirdly named drinks.

Take the oddly sexually named- Blue Bawls. It hardly seems as if the phenomena that the drink is named after would be a thought that would lead to additional sales, but given the amount of immature jokes that websites marketing the energy drink are prepared to create, at the very least it’s getting some additional notice.

Other crazily named energy drinks include Zombie Blood Energy and Blood Energy Potion, both of which come in faux blood bags. Made by Harcos, the same organization that introduced us to zombie jerky, the blood drinks promise to include extra strong blood cells that can help give the consumer “zombie strength.”

But the weirdest and most awkwardly named drink is distributed by Redux Beverages. Put simply, the name of the drink is Cocaine. Marketed in spicy, mild, and shot, the drink is served a plain red or blue bottle with the trendy name down the side. However, that’s all the drink is: an edgy name.

It’s entertaining to look at the current energy drink market, and try to figure out where it’s going to go. Although given that we’ve already reached the level of Bawls and Cocaine, I don’t think the future is very bright.

Health Drinks Are Truly Healthy When They Are Alkaline

With such a wide variety of health drinks on the market, it can be complex to distinguish the differences between alkaline drinks and other unwise choices. While a small sampling of the health drinks you find are useful in some ways, alkaline drinks have numerous benefits that their counterparts do not.

Alkaline drinks are unique health drinks that employ natural ingredients registering a pH balance higher than 7.0, after consumption. Ingredients in these alkaline drinks may be comprised of whole foods, like real fruits and herbs. These ingredients must be prepared properly in order to maintain the whole food structure of the plants.

Because there are so many health drinks available, it can be smart to ascertain just what effect you expect with your purchase. For example, some health drinks contain high doses of protein to help fitness fanatics build lean muscle. Unfortunately, a majority of the protein drinks available today are highly acidic and contribute to pH imbalances throughout the body.

Why Choose Alkaline Drinks?

The value of maintaining an alkaline body is becoming clear as research points to the benefits. The pH balance of human blood is approximately 7.4, leaning to the alkaline side of the scale. If human blood changes just two tenths in pH level, death is inevitable. The body will do whatever is required to stay in balance, even if that means extracting calcium from your bones to alkalize the acid forming foods and drinks consumed. This explains why health drinks with naturally alkaline ingredients are supportive in assisting the body to maintain that delicate pH balance.

Unfortunately, most people consume too many acid forming substances. By choosing alkaline drinks, we are better able to help the body maintain its natural balance. The result is an overall improvement in health. With the supplementation of alkaline drinks, the body does not overexert itself in an effort to maintain a proper pH balance. Plus, harmful bacteria and other uninvited invaders are unable to survive in this alkaline environment.

Alkaline drinks usually only qualify as such when they are made with whole food ingredients. Fruits, such as lemons and peaches and alkaline food grade herbs, like jasmine or cinnamon are ingredients that will be in these types of health drinks. Keep in mind that typical convenience store drinks, like vitamin waters, sodas and energy drinks are made primarily with acid forming ingredients. In most cases, alkaline health drinks also offer a more natural energy increase without a sugar boost or a caffeine buzz. This is because often, the alkaline ingredients include additional nutritional components such as antioxidants, live enzymes, and chlorophyll for enhanced oxygen flow.

When you take the time to learn how your health drinks are processed and what they are really made with you can make a gigantic difference in how effective they are for your health. By looking for naturally alkaline drinks, you are able to support your body in a way that most hyped up health drinks can’t possibly equal.

Spain Shows Off the Best of its Cuisine in Japan

Spain exhibited traditional products decorated with beautifully-designed packaging for the sophisticated Japanese market at the Foodex fair.

Madrid, Spain, March 12, 2013 – Spain exhibited traditional products decorated with beautifully-designed packaging for the sophisticated Japanese market at the Foodex fair.

Foodex is the biggest and most important agrifoods fair in Asia. It is held in Tokyo (Japan), which is a very important market for Spanish products, so the Spanish delegation used the occasion to show off an enormous range of traditional foods, which it exhibited in spectacular fashion. The aim of this initiative is for exports to continue growing as they did in 2012, when they rose by 26%, earning 418 million in revenue.

Spain was represented at the fair by more than 100 companies, driven by the stagnation in consumer demand in Spain and the EU, which has led to -greater emphasis and bigger budgets being devoted to promotion in foreign markets-, according to representatives of the various companies taking part in the fair.

The event brought together exhibitors from 66 countries and was visited by over 75,000 company representatives, who had the chance to see the Spanish agrifood products on display at some of the largest stands at the fair and sample the country’s most traditional foods, given an innovative twist.

Some of the items vying to excite the Japanese palate included dried mushrooms, tomatoes and kiwi fruit. Paella and croquettes were wrapped in small cardboard packages like gifts, while frozen churros gave the flavour of a true Spanish breakfast. Another high point was the creative cuisine offered by Masdeu, from Catalonia, whose cone-shaped pastry bases and salmon mousse and chocolate pastries did not go unnoticed.

The list of products most frequently exported to Japan is headed by frozen meat products, which bring in 92 million, followed by olive oil (60 million), fresh fish (48 million) and wines with designation of origin (30 million), according to ICEX figures.
